Albert Lea Lakers sign RHP Christian Peery from Lamar Community College. Peery is a 5’11 175 lb. side-arm RHP from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The sophomore pitched in 25 games last season for the Lopes with a 5.10 ERA. Peery recorded 8 saves last season, which was good for top 15 in the entire nation. He had 20 strikeouts in 24 innings last season with opposing hitters hitting .245 off of Peery. Being the Lopes closer last season, Peery is used to pressure.

“Christian will be a back-end of the bullpen guy for us. He’s going to pitch in pressure situations late in the game as a set-up man or closer for us. It’s nice to have someone who’s already used to being in the late game situations. He’s a nice weapon to have being a side-armer. Side-Arm pitchers are extremely difficult on right handed hitters. He did pretty well as a freshman closer, so I expect this year his numbers will only be better. You can tell by talking to him he loves the game and wants to play at the highest level he can. I am excited to see him dial up some funky stuff for us and be effective out of the bullpen.”
